Yesterday was my last day in Chetpet Office.

Chetpet Office !!??

Yes, it was a business center named Niche Business Centre located in 2nd Avenue, Harrington Road, Chetpet, Chennai. We rented it last December and we were working(a little, to be frank) from there till yesterday.

Me and Rangachary Krishan, my best friend from college, constitutes that WE.

We were working together from early June 2009. I was working in PHP/MySQL, rather WordPress projects to be precise, mostly via elance.com and he worked in logo design and assisted me in little design stuffs that comes with the coding work I do.
He is actively participating in the design contents in 99designs.com.

Its really hard to work from home due to the abundance of disturbances, so we decided to look for an Office space and Ranga found this Business Center. Its located near the Lady Andal School in Harrington Road, a nice and calm place with lots of trees. We took a nice little two seater cabin and it cost us Rs.6500/Month and additional Rs.500/PC or Laptop. So we paid Rs.7500/month, little costly!. They also have a small pantry and support staffs for assistance and to give it an office feel. There were about 10 such cabins.

Its a good choice if you were looking for a work place for short duration. Not many were aware the existence such entity and we found it by chance while searching for a fully rented office and the advantage such place is zero investment and planning. If you like the cabin, just pay and occupy. When you are done, just leave. There were many such Business Centers and I saw one in Flowers Road, near Sangam Theater and another one in Haddows Road(ApeeJee Business Center).

Our cubicle was very similar to this but not this.

Last week Ranga got an offer from his previous company and he(we) decided to accept it. So, we decided to vacate the office and did so yesterday. It was so simple, all that was needed was a letter and no prior notice, nothing.

So, wat’s next….!!??

I’m looking for another office space near my home!!!

I’m happy to let you all know that I’m hired by R5 Ltd, UK to work on the next major release of WPRemix – a popular Premium WordPress CMS Theme.
The new release will be WPRemix 4.0 and will have a whole lot of new features. The official release date and list of features is yet to be finalized.

Its been a long time, rather very long time since I posted something. I was busy handling personal stuffs, laziness added to it and didn’t allow me to spend some time for blogging.
Lots had happened during the past year and I missed out to share them all. My career has changed and I’m now a freelancer working on PHP/MySQL projects and several WordPress Themes/Plugins.
I’m going to try my best to put my laziness and various reasons apart and start blogging actively again.

To start with I’m upgrading this WordPress installation to latest version – WordPress 2.9.2

Also, for long time I’m planning to design a WordPress Theme for myself and I keep procrastinating. My personal deadline to design a new theme is April 1st, I’m not fooling…! believe me…!!! Let’s see how it goes…!!!

Finally, I want to let you all know that I’m back!!!

Yesterday, I went to the Animation movie “Monsters Vs Aliens” with my Friends in Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai.

Monsters Vs Aliens is a 3D Animated movie and you get to wear 3D glass to view it. The movie was slightly boring in the first half. Susan (the tall girl in the poster in the right) is hit by a meteor and turns into a monster. She’s then taken to secret government prison or lab(strangely quite big to keep it secret ) headed by General Monger, where she meets 4 other monsters Dr. Cockroach – scientist with cockroach head, BOB – brainless jelly with only one eye, Missing Link – crocodile like creature and Insectosarus – a huge insect(hence not in this poster), that becomes a butterfly in the climax. Susan turned huge absorbing a substance called quantonium and Gallaxhar, an alien is in search of it and sends a giant robot to extract the substance from susan.

The giant robot lands in US. US president(comedian of this movie) comes to talk with the robot and plays the Crazy frog tune . The robot gets annoyed and destroys everything and the huge US military couldn’t do anything. The General suggests to use Monsters to fight against the Aliens. The monsters fight sucessfully against the robot and Gallaxhar decides to come to earth to complete the misson.

I logged into Linode Manager after 2 days and immediately noticed that Storage Summary and it showed “You have allocated 75% of the storage towards disk usage”. To be frank I haven’t noticed the text and just saw the bar earlier. My perception was that the disk usage was 75% and I haven’t uploaded anything to the server other than the basic OS files and the WordPress files. I got panicked for a sec. Only then realized that it was usage out of total storage available.

I checked the home page of linode and found that they have increase the Storage size by 33%.
